I used to e the fill-in bass player at the Saluda, SC shows. Herbie brought Ben in, I went back to guitar, and Ben was kind enough to take the bass chair. But not before a few "guys only" jokes and stories. I made a new friend that Saturday night---and laughed my ass off at Ben. What a bass player, what a guy.

Sure miss my old pal !!!. We always kidded each other about having the same names. Ah there were some unbelievable exchanges in regards to that.

Here's my comment on Ben's passing:
My tribute to brother Ben
I went on the road with Ben my very first gig in Nashville (Dottie West, subbing for a month or so). Ben was great, way nicer to me than expected to a green, green player (I was barely 21).
Later I loved playing with Ben on the steel shows, he is a huge fan of rhythm and blues and gospel, and had a great feel.
I'll miss him.
