Sorry to hear this. Below is a photo of Eric and Doug Jones doing twin steels at Jubitz, back about October 2003.

I did not know him well, but he seemed like an interesting guy. On the forum, he often argued his position on the correct way to tune a steel guitar. I have to say that to my ear, he was one of the most "in tune" steel guitar players I've ever heard.

I think he might have been pleased to hear someone say that.

I am terribly saddened. He and I spoke many times. I always loved chatting with him; I will miss him terribly.

I'm very sad to read this news. I enjoyed his company on this forum and even though he could be contentious at times, I believe he was a good man. He was a colorful and intelligent guy with a different point of view than me, but that's what makes life so great.

RIP, friend.

I always enjoy folks who "think outside the box" and, in my estimation, Eric was one of those rare people. Thanks for the posts and energy. Never heard you play or talked to you in person, but felt I got to know you through this forum. Condolences to the family and friends of this man. stevet

I always told Eric he reminded me (both in looks and in his posting style) to the character Sam Elliot played in The Big Lebowski, the Stranger.

I also regret that the day I meant to call him, his mother had removed the telephone number from her post before I could take it down. My condolences to her and the Eric's wife and the rest of his friends and family.

This is very sad news indeed. I had the honor of seeing him play again a couple months back which turns out to have been one of his last performances. He was truly a great player and performer, it was like watching history as he sat on stage and performed playing his vintage Sho-Bud guitar. I Chatted with him on his break times, and by the end of the evening the effects of his health were really taking its toll. Again I'm very saddened to hear of Eric's passing, I'm sure he will be missed by all.

Wow, sad day. He wrote frequently about his declining health, so I guess it's not a surprise, but it is a shock.
