Virginia's Tommy Riddle....RIP

Post by Jerry Hayes »

Long time southeast Virginia musician Tommy Riddle in in dire need of our prayers. Ol' Tommy's been given just a couple of weeks to live. He has some form of agressive Lukemia and is in Intensive Care in a hospital in Norfolk.

In his day Tommy was a bandleader and vocalist playing either rhythm guitar or bass. He's had some records and LP's over the years which were very good. He's in his eighties now and up until this thing got him down he was still out there trying to do his thing.

Here's a couple of shots of him, one of him receiving the Virginia Country Music Association's "Pioneer Award" in 2005. Then there's and old shot of him with one of his old bands taken in the sixties and one of him with Ed & Bobby Beard & the Rounders taken about a year ago. If you'd like to know a little more about him go to his website which is: www.tommyriddle.com .......Thanks, JH in Va.

Ol' Tommy's at home now with Hospice so it doesn't look too good for him. He's alert and in fairly good spirits considering his situation. The President of the VCMA (Bob Hitt) went to see him over the weekend and Tommy got out his guitar and sang him a couple of tunes.......JH in Va.
