Remembering Jack Matthews

Post by Sissy Privitt »

Today Feb.1st, makes two years ago that Jack left us.
His leaving has left such a void in our hearts, because Glen and myself still find ourselves looking for him and wanting to call him. I still look everyday when I come home from work to see if he is in my driveway when I get there. Sissy

Sissy. You're not alone. Not a day goes by at Roberts Music store in Minden,La, that Jackie is not mentioned & fondly remembered. We have a small memorial sitting on a showcase of him & his Zum steel. He was a great friend & so is Robert. Come see us sometime. Andy Hinton.

Mr Jack was one of my all time heroes, and a great friend..He is certainly missed here, and thought of with fond memories.
I don't remember us ever doing a show, that he did not invite me to share his bandstand.
A great picker,a super person, and a great friend.
Mr Robert ,I hope you and your family are doing well...

Thank you all for remembering this sweet fella. My Dad. He never met a stranger, and loved everyone of you in the steel guitar community. It was his life. Wish I was more like him and had half his talent. I surely enjoyed the times you shared the bandstand with him Mr. Parker. He loved those ballads you did.

Jack- Was a great player and I remember seeing him at one of the early TSGA Dallas shows. A few months back, this fellow who retired to move back to Albany came in my office and presented me with a Jack Matthews CD along with a bio and told me Jack had lived in Albany and that they were childhood friends. I was shocked, this gentleman knew that I was a steel player and thought that I might enjoy Jack's CD. Such a small world. I really like the CD!

I loved Jack as a person and as a steel player. I often told him that he was one of my favorite steel players and he was. I miss him a lot at the shows. Buck & Mitzi Grantham
