Another great Northwesterner passes...........

Post by Ray Montee (RIP) »

For all who live in the Pacific Northwest or who have had occasion to play country-western music in the region during the last 40+ years.......a name that all should be familiar with is SAMMY WHITE.

I just learned that Sammy White has passed and his funeral services will be forthcoming.

I lack any specific details but I'm sure others from this area will be able to fill us in with accurate details. Sammy had a great voice and played a fine bass. He was a mainstay in the area for decades. He was always highly respected and played the nicer venues.

Sorry to hear this.

Sammy White was the President of Local Musicians 99 for MANY years. Most of the 30 years I've played here.

Always walked the walk and played for many years at The Grove. All during the 80s. Bass player extrordinaire.

Last time I saw him was 23 May last year when he sang with The Longhorns at Duffs. He could sing all the old "Ray Price" shuffles like he wrote them.

Great guy.

Made LOTS of music.

God willing, he still is.

I remember Sammy fondly from my days in the Portland area. Aside from being the Union rep, he was a fine singer. Sorry to hear of his passing.
