Don Curtis

Post by Michael Scott »

We just received news that our own Don E. Curtis suffered a heart attack today and has passed away. There are no other details at this time.

It’s a great loss for Scotty’s Music, SteelRadio.com and the steel guitar community.

This was such bad news. Don was a great person and a fine steel player. He will be missed as a musician and a good friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Unbelievable !!
DeWitt, Jr. just called to lemme know . . .
Apparently he and Linda were out hiking
when this happened.
Don and I go back through over thirty years
of friendship, this is hard to accept, like
losing a brother, and I pray that God keeps
his soul.

This is terrible news! Don and I have been friends for many years. We play alternate fri. nites at the same place. We frequently asked each other about our volume, tone, etc. Wow. May God be with Dons family. Ron

This is reminiscent of losing Ben a few years back. It's as much of a shock. Scotty emailed me a few minutes ago, and I'm stunned.

My friend and teacher. RIP Don E. I like this old pic from '79. You can see his joy behind the pedal steel. I don't think he ever lost that passion.

This is a big surprise. Sorry to hear of his passing. I met Don at Scotty's store in 96 and each time we've met over the years I've had cordial conversations with him.

Very sad news, and unexpected. My condolences to his family and his many, many friends. I've always enjoyed Don's monthly tab in the PSGA newsletter.
