Ralph Mooney best ever IMO

Post by GaryHoetker »

I realize how unsavory it can be to start a thread that singles out someone as the greatest ever at this or that. Forgive me, but being a Bakersfield boy,I just can't help myself this time. Mooney created a sound, a style,a uniqueness, and emotion that will never be duplicated, IMO. It was raw West Coast country at its best... and not just on Buck's,Hag's, Stewart's, and Waylon's earlier recordings. Some of his very best work was with Bobby Austin, Bonnie Owens,Wanda Jackson, and Bobby Durham to mention a few, that didn't get much air play.

I never met Ralph Mooney. I wish I had because he is my hero. I told my three sons that. They're not particularly country music fans but all of them thought Mooney was cool !! That he was.

God Speed to a great, great artist and by all accounts a great person too.

See you on the other side Moon.
