I do too, Larry. :( He was a big influence in my approach to playing guitar, not that I ever reached his expertise :\ but he kept me in the game :)

I miss Chet also. He was one of my heroes. A big musical influence that I so wanted to sound like. I never made it but I sure liked his sound.
I hope to get to Nashvile again someday and visit the cemetery where he rests.

I first heard Chet in '52-'53 in the SF Bay area. I heard "Chinatown My Chinatown" and I was never the same. I started asking record store for his records and very few had heard of him yet, but pretty soon, his records were everywhere.
Chet was a fantastic role model, super talent, no scandals and a lack of an overgrown ego. He was very humble but his music spoke volumes. I spent an afternoon with him in Sept. '57 in the studio and saw some of my music heros on a session. It was one of the biggest moments in this teenager's life.

Just watched an old tape of Nashville Now last evening that featured Chet and his excellent talent and personality. What a true Super Talent and Southern Gentleman. His contribution to music in general and the inspiration he represented to guitarists worldwide will never be truly measured. True lovers of good music and especially, guitar will be playing their version of oh so many of Chet's musical selections and hits.
Love and Thanks..Chet.

I went to a number of Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Conventions in the 90's. Here is my first in 1993 I believe.

It was pretty cool. We had just drove 9 hours to get to the hotel in Nashville and had probably not been there more than 15 minutes when this picture was taken.

I remember as a kid watching Chet play on the Ed Sullivan show in the early 60's and my dad saying to me: "Now, that's how you want to play guitar." :)

Here's a little tune. http://youtu.be/QVAgnEUlIpo
