GFI D10 raise and lower note simultaneously
Hi Folks, I've got 8 pedals and 5 knees on my GFI D10. All work well individually and for the simple E9 changes. I want to be able to engage the A and B pedals on the front neck while lowering the B string to C with the LKU lever I can't get the tuning right. Nearly is not good enough as the Minor 6 4 chord that combination gives you could be really useful if I could just get it in tune. Can anybody help please? Also, how can I set the levers on my Guitar to drop semitones and tones i.e Drop the 2nd string to C# and D please? When I was playing an Emmons Push/Pull here in Australia I had a great manual called something like: "Steel Guitar in the Wilderness". And I'm a long way from the home of Steel Guitar players, that's for sure. Is there a similar manual for All Pull guitars? Best wishes, Rob Mahoney, a Kiwi in Aussie.

Sounds like you are talking about a tunable split.
Read about it here: viewtopic.php?p=2145680&sid=14865e6276d ... e79ed39789
You can’t get the lever to do two jobs with only one rod. You want to lower the B string 1/2 tone when it’s in its normal slack condition and also when it’s being pulled up a whole tone. Those are two different tensions on that string.
Regarding lowering String 2 to D and C#, look up “feel stop”.

There are a couple different ways of getting there.
Stay tuned. There are some highly qualified mechanical geniuses here on the Forum, and once they notice that I have given you advice they will charge in like the cavalry and set you straight.

Robert, you have to add an extra split-tune rod to your Bb vertical lever so that the C#, Bb and C on string 5 are all separately tuneable to your liking.
Assuming you have a pretty standard set up, you want to first tune your string 5 C# raise on the A pedal.
Then tune your vertical lever to the desired C pitch while that C# raise is engaged.
You'll then have a good C# and a good split C with pedal A & vertical combined.
But the Bb vertical on its own will now give you a Bb that is too flat.
This is where the extra rod comes in that will introduce a slight raise to the vertical lever.
Add it as a raise on the vertical lever's bell crank and tune it at the changer to the desired Bb while only the vertical is engaged. Its a bit counter intuitive but you will tune the Bb lower with that split rod raise. You'll probably want to mark that nylon hex nut with a sharpie.
If you tune your C pedal raise to the same C# as your A pedal, you'll now have a good C natural whenever Vertical is combined with the A or C pedal.
Hope that helps. Good luck with it!

Re: GFI D10 raise and lower note simultaneously
Replying to myself, I solved my issues, basically writing it down helped me to think more clearly about the functions of the mechanism and now my split between the B to Bb LKU works properly with A, B and C pedals in their usual combinations giving a whole bunch of new chords to play around with but only with the 5th. string. I found a work around by tightening he return spring. Ill order more rods and get the in addition to the RKR double drop working well now.
Thanks Andrew and Treece for the legit fixes. I'm really in the wilderness here as the only guy I know who is attempting to play advanced western swing harmony here in Victoria doesn't have an LKU on his E9... Happy Steeling!
