Justice S10 "A" pedal adjustment

Post by Robert Ripperden »

Can anyone tell me how to adjust my "A" pedal so I'll have a bit
of play before it raises to tone? I barely touch the pedal and it starts to raise the note. Thank you.
P.S. there is no play in the plastic rod tuner.

If your guitar has return springs on pedals or cross shafts, The guitar could be adjusted so you have free play before string starts changing.
If a guitar does not have pedal return springs like Mullen and others have.
Or Return springs on cross shafts, Like the old MSA Classics had. You have no free play, Before the strings start lowering or raising.

You could add springs to pedals or cross shafts, on some guitars to accomplish this.

I played a MSA Classic S10, With springs on pedals and knee levers, I set up free play on pedals and knee levers. When I went to a GFI S12, I had to learn real quick, Don't try to rest your foot on the pedals, Or relax your leg against a knee lever.

I bought a S12 Mullen PRP with return springs on the pedals. If it joins my herd, After some cleaning and set up work on it. I may have to add springs to my GFI, So they will have the same feel on the pedals on both guitars.
Good luck in this project & Happy Steelin.

This is a simple fix. you have over tuned your guitar.
1) back off the 10 string pull completely with the tuning nut... that way you are just working on string 5 first
2) back off the 5th string tuning nut so there is some play
3) tune the open 5th string to pitch
4) now tune up the 5th string raise
5) physically grab the bell crank /rod pullers for the A pedal under neath and wiggle them back and forth. if there is a little play you can move on to the 10th string and then do the same.
6) if there is no movement in the bell cranks when checking the 5th string pull.... then down where the pedal rod connects the the guitar, there is a Allen set screw. Back it off 1/4" turn and retune the 5th string. Then check it again. Keep doing this until you have a little movement with the bell cranks. Once your satisfied do the same to string 10. if string 10 tunes up proper leaving a little movement then your golden. If not the do the same procedure with string 10 that i just described for string 5
thanks
