Adjusting pedal travel on Dekley S10

Post by Benjamin Cooley »

Couple months ago got my first pedal steel, a 10-string Dekley S10 3x1 (I believe it's a student model, but can't find a serial number anywhere). I've figured out how to keep it in tune, but am struggling with some "overtuning" symptoms, which I read about here on the forum. On my A and B pedal, there is hardly any play—if my foot brushes the top, the string starts to bend.

I have backed off the nylon tuning pegs. But underneath the guitar, I cannot find a foot pedal travel stop screw to compensate. The Dekley PDF manual (located here: https://www.steelguitar.com/manuals/Dek ... Manual.pdf) says it should be there on all models. But the only travel stop screw I can see is for the knee lever, which works fine.

So my next thought was to adjust the hole in which the rod from the nylon tuner hooks into the crank arm. There's a diagram in the manual that suggests moving it further out increases travel. But the ends of those rods are just metal discs designed to be larger than the hole...so I can't figure out how to move these, there's nothing to unscrew or pop off to move to a different hole.

I'm at a bit of a loss here. I've managed to live with it by being very delicate with my foot placement so as to not accidentally brush a pedal. I've sat at some other guys' steels and they almost always have a lot more play in the pedals. Also, my pedal rods are almost about as long as they can go (they seem to be pretty short overall, the steel seems to sit lower than other models too). So I can't compensate by making those longer.

Any help much appreciated! Pictures below, I tried to mark them up for specific parts.
